    This is a consignment item. It covers the awarding of the 1914 Iron Cross and the German Wound Badge in Southwest Africa during World War One. The soft cover book was published in 2005. It contains examples of an Iron Cross’s Urkunde (Award Document), including the numerous formats used. It also lists the numbers and types of Iron Crosses awarded (i.e., 1st and 2nd Class and a breakdown of 2nd Class Combatants and Non Combatants), as well as the soldiers who were awarded the 2nd Class.
    It is a useful research book, and can help confirm which Colonial Southwest African soldiers were awarded the Iron Cross.

    Our offering today is a consignment item. This is a high-quality photo album for Stabarzt der Reserve Albrecht Holz, which contains ninety-one fine original photographs. It is a compact photo album that measures 7 3/4″ x 5 ½” x 1 7/8.” The front cover has some water damage and warping, but the photographs are fine. Dr. Holz was attached to Infanterie-Regiment Nr 107 from Saxony. He served as Bataillon Nr II’s Bataillon physician. The unit served on the Western Front. The photos were taken during the period of 1915 and show hospitals in which Dr. Holz served.
    Included with the album is research on the Regiment and Division, which the new owner will find most useful. It shows the battles that the Division participated in on the Western Front, and during a short stay on the Eastern Front.

It was awarded for patriotic war aid service, especially on the home front. Its obverse displays Kaiser Wilhelm II’s royal cypher. The reverse exhibits the legend, “Für Kriegs Hilfsdienst” (For War Aid Service). It comes with an original ribbon.
