This is a first time offering for Der Rittmeister Militaria. It comes from the Principality of Lippe-Detmold and is known as the War Honor Service Medal on Native (home) Soil. It was not intended as an award to front-line troops in the field. As Lippe-Detmold was a small principality, their decorations generally were awarded in fewer numbers. This decoration is particularly scarce. It is gilt-toned and eight-sided. The decoration’s obverse features Lippe-Detmold’s Rose, the ruling Prince Leopold IX’s royal cypher, and the date 1914. On the reverse we see the decoration’s name. The attached ribbon is for Non Combatants, as is the decoration.
