This Vivat Ribbon commemorates Paul von Hindenburg early in WW I, while he was still a Generaloberst. He was victorious on the Eastern Front in the Battles of Hilgenburg and Ortelsburg on 29 August 1914. Hindenburg had great success on the Eastern Front early in the war and was promoted to Generalfeldmarschall. Von Hindenburg appears as the Vivat’s central theme, along with a Teutonic knight battling a snake. The Vivat is salmon-colored and measures 15 1/2″ x 2 1/2.” It was produced for the German Red Cross’s benefit.
