THE KAISER’S CUIRASSIERS IN WW I.
The Kaiser’s Cuirassiers in World War One, like the Kaiser’s Hussars in WWI, covers each element of the Cuirassier’s different uniforms from his head covering to his trousers for both pre-feldgrau and feldgrau examples. It then goes into a lengthy discussion about each of the 12 regiments that were activated in August 1914 (GduC, GKR KR1-8, Saxon Guard Reiter and Saxon Karabiner). It discusses the regiment’s garrison, the specific uniforms of each regiment and the regiment’s activities during the war.
Mr. Turinetti has been able to find some firsthand descriptions of combat actions from German soldiers’ diaries and US Intelligence reports. The book is illustrated with maps, many period photos, including numerous photos featuring their uniforms and Lobstertail helmets. Turinetti concludes each regiment’s description by identifying the regiment into which it transitioned during WWII (enabling the regiment’s tradition to continue).
