This is a combination of a Carte de Visite (CdV) and Militärpaß for a soldier named Reinhold Hecker. He was born in 1864 and joined Prussia’ Königin Augusta Garde – Grenadier – Regiment – Regiment Nr in 1886. He served in the regiment’s Kompagnie Nr 5, mustering out in 1899 three years later. The Militärpaß features the regiment’s official unit rubber stamp. I can see an entry as late as 1904, where he served some time in the reserves after a thirteen-year active military career.
Hecker’s CdV shows a serous and erect man dressed in an enlisted infantryman’s regimental Garde uniform, complete with a Garde belt and buckle. It is a handsome little group.
