This is an interesting scimitar-shaped “Trench Art” letter opener. It measures 8″ in length. The scimitar’s blade measures 5 ½” in length. It is inserted into a deactivated rifle bullet, complete with projectile. One side of the blade has an interesting floral motif pattern engraved on it. Below is a French city’s name, “Brest,” and the year “1918.” The other side is plain. The bullet casing features an added French Croix de Guerre (War Cross) on its side. It is a charmingly different letter opener!
