SANKE CARD NR 569 – PRUSSIAN PRINZ SIGISMUND
Prinz Sigismund of Prussia (1891-1927) was a member of the lesser House of Hohenzollern branch. As such, he became an à la Suite officer in the 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß when he turned the age of ten in 1901. He was also attached to the 2. Leib-Husaren-Regiment Königin Viktoria von Preußen Nr. 2, in which he held the rank of Rittmeister. During WW I, he served in Flieger-Abteilung Nr 22. He survived the war, but was killed in a 1927 riding accident.
Sanke Card Nr 569 shows Prinz Sigismund in a profile view, wearing a feldgrau attila. He is wearing a schirmmütze that displays his regiment’s Totenkopf (Death’s Head). His shoulder board also shows the regiment’s cypher. Finally, he sports the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class on his tunic’s left breast.
