PRUSSIA – SANKE CARD NR 450 – MANFRED FREIHERR VON RICHTHOFEN.
Manfred von Richthofen was Imperial Germany’s leading air ace, as well as WW I’s overall “Ace-of-Aces.” His final score before that fateful day in April 1918 was eighty confirmed victories. Today we are offering what was the first of the MANY Sanke Cards that were issued, Sanke Card Nr 450. It is also the only Sanke pose to feature him in his full dress uniform. He is wearing a multi place medal bar, his 1914 Iron Cross, Prussian Army Pilot Badge and, finally, the coveted Orden Pour le Mérite hangs around his neck.
The postcard was never mailed.
