This is a postcard that was flown by airmail prior to WW I. The postcard was specially printed and offered to collectors who wanted to obtain a postcard that had actually flown on an airplane. It was an early offering, as it was flown barely nine years after the Wright Brothers’ first flight. The specially printed postcard proudly proclaims that it was flown by airplane from Frankfurt am Rhein. It was double cancelled on 22 June 1912. A special 20-pfennig postage stamp was used. The postcard was addressed, but no message was written on it.
