PLATE – BAVARIA – COMMEMORATING MARTIN LUTHER’S 400TH ANNIVERSARY – ROSENTHAL
Martin Luther (1483-1546) was the famous Protestant reformer for whom the Lutheran Church is named. He published his famous Ninety-five Theses in 1517, and sparked the Protestant Reformation. Today we are offering a handsome plate from the well-known Bavarian porcelain manufacturing company Rosenthal that celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the Ninety-Five Theses’ publication. The plate measures 8 1/2” in diameter and features Luther’s likeness along with the dates 1517 and 1917 in blue on a white background. The plate’s reverse features Rosenthal’s hallmark, as well as a hanger from which the plate could be hung on a wall. It is a very fine, one-hundred-year-old presentation.
