This is a pair of oberstleutnant shoulder boards from Infanterie-Regiment Graf Tauentzien von Wittenberg (3. Brandenburgisches) Nr 20. The regiment was created in 1813 and garrisoned in Wittenberg. It was assigned to the III. Armeekorps. The shoulder boards measure 1 ½” x 5 ½.” Each shoulder board sports the regimental designation, a large numeral “20,” and a single rank pip. One of the shoulder boards has experienced a higher degree of patina than the other. They are of the slip-on variety, which was more commonly see on shoulder boards above a major’s rank. Their reverses reveal red felt underlay materials. Some moth damage is evident to this material on both boards’ reverses. No such damage is apparent on the shoulder boards’ obverses.
