This oversized badge represents the city and Free State of Hamburg. It is oval-shaped and measures 2 ½” x 2.” It is two-piece construction. An oval center depicts Hamburg’s Rathaus (City Hall) in silver-toned metal against a copper background. This image accompanies most items associated with the city. [The Rathaus was destroyed during WW II’s heavy bombing, however, Hamburg’s industrious citizens soon brought it back-to-life]. The oval is mounted on a silver-toned design incorporating a crown and stylized floral design. In turn, it is mounted on a silver and gold-toned sunburst. Its reverse boasts a pin and catch. The metal is not of the highest quality, but it remains an attractive piece. I am not quite sure of the badge’s purpose, as I have not seen one before.
