This is a marvelous pair of Kaiserliche Marine Oberlotsen’s epaulettes. He served in a technical capacity as a senior NCO (Petty Officer). In examining these epaulettes, you will see a large pair of crossed anchors with a geared wheel in their center. Above this is a Hohenzollern Crown. Each epaulette has a fine background of silver bullion. The epaulette’s edges sport two shades of silver bullion. A small gold-toned button adorns each epaulette’s tongue. The reverse features a dark-blue (or perhaps purple) velvet background. One epaulette displays an old museum or German collection tag that reads “Epaulette eines Oberlotsen (Technik) der Kaiserliche Marine.” This epaulette reveals some mothing on its reverse to the tag’s left. The other epaulette is clear and clean. Both epaulettes have the metal attachments for sliding the epaulette in place on a tunic. This is a seldom-seen pair of senior NCO’s epaulettes.
