This is a medal for the Deutscher Patriotenbund, which was associated with the Volkerschlacht-Denkmal Bei Leipzig. The latter means “Monument to the Battle of the Nations.” It is a monument in Leipzig, Germany, to the 1813 Battle of Leipzig, also known as the Battle of the Nations, which occurred during the Napoleonic Wars. The monument was completed in 1913, and was completely supported by donations and a lottery. This medal probably was issued by the Deutscher Patriotenbund to raise funds for the memorial. It measures 1 1/4″ in diameter. It is bronze-toned. On the front it shows the monument itself. Three eagles are depicted attacking a larger eagle on the reverse, symbolizing the allied nations attacking France. The medal has a jump ring.
