This is a color postcard of the small cruiser S. M. S. Lübeck. She was commissioned in 1905, and was one of seven “Bremen” Class ships. She participated in the Battle of Jutland (Skagerrak). After the war she was delivered to England, where she was scrapped. The ship is seen steaming out of port. A kriegsflagge and the Free State of Lübeck’s flag appear on the left. While the postcard was never mailed, a message dated 1915 appears on the reverse.
