This is a very interesting patriotic item from the WW I period. It is an oversized Iron Cross paperweight measuring 4″ x 4″ x 1 /4.” It is gilt-toned, and shows the three Imperial Periods that used the Iron Cross (1813, 1870, and 1914). It also features Friedrich Wilhelm III’s crowned cypher. He was the originator of the Iron Cross. Oak leaves and Kaiser Wilhelm II’s cypher are also included. This item was cast when produced. If you look at the reverse, you can see that it is hollow. It is in excellent condition.
