This is the House Silver Service Medal from Hohenzollern. The decoration is circular, measuring 1 1/4″ in diameter. It has a large jump ring attached to the decoration’s top. The decoration’s obverse features a crowned cypher within a wreath made of oak and laurel leaves. Under the cypher is the date, 1 January 1842. The reverse displays Hohenzollern’s Coat-of-Arms and “Für Treue und Verdienst (For Loyalty and Service).” This also is inside an oak and laurel leaf wreath. Its presentation case measures 4″ x 2 3/4.” “H. S. V. M” is embossed in silver on the exterior. Inside the case, the upper lid is lined in dark-blue silk. Embossed in silver on the silk lining is ” J. G. Zimmerer & Sohn Fürstlich Hohenzollerische Hofjuwellerie Sigmaringen.” The case’s bottom is lined with handsome blue velvet, with a cutout area to house the decoration. Another small area just above the cutout contains a piece of black and white ribbon for the decoration. Both the decoration and presentation case are in excellent condition.
