GERMANY – ARMY WOUND BADGE – GOLD
The Army Wound Badge was first authorized in March 1918. German wound badges were awarded in three classes. The third class was the Black Wound Badge, next was the Silver second class wound badge, and the First Class award being Gold.
The Army wound badge, issue pieces, are a solid stamped design. They feature an raised stalhelm, in the center, with crossed swords.
The Gold Army Wound Badge we are offering is an issue example of the First Class, highest award.
While in very good condition, we must point out that there is some scuffing to the high points of the stalhelm. This type of scuffing tends to be a common with these wound badges.
