This is a first-rate four-place medal bar. It features the medals listed below from left to right.
1). The 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class.
2). The Hindenburg Cross for Combatants with Swords.
3). The Tapferkeitsmedaille from the Duchy of Saxe-Altenburg (series 2, issued from 1916 through 1918). The obverse features Saxe-Altenburg’s Coat-of-Arms, a crown, and the date, 1914. Its reverse displays Duke Ernst II’s (1908-1918) royal cypher. As it is a Saxon duchy, the decoration appears on a green and white Saxon ribbon. [This decoration was the small duchy’s 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class equivalent].
4). The 1939 War Service Cross (a Third Reich decoration).
The ribbons and decorations are in very fine condition. The medal bar’s reverse does NOT display the normal felt covering.
