This a most interesting medal bar with a lot of character to it. From left to right, this is what we see:
*The Hindenburg Cross with Swords for Combatants.
*The Southwest Africa Medal for Combatants 1904-1906.
*The War Service Cross 2nd Class for Non Combatants – Braunschweig. This is very intriguing, because it is on the correct Non Combatant’s ribbon, while the Southwest Africa Medal was awarded in the Combatant’s grade. As if that is were not enough, its ribbon displays a Spange for the Southwest Africa Omaheke Campaign. Why it is attached to the ribbon for the Braunschweig medal, I do not know.
*The Prussian Long Service Award 2nd Class for the Landwehr.
It is a most unusual medal bar with an extraordinary configuration of decorations.
