This is a very somber death notice and the envelope in which it was mailed. The death notice measures 8 1/4″ x 5 1/4.” It was folded to fit in the envelope, which measures 4 1/2″ x 5 3/4.” The notice is dated 2 August 1915. It states that Wilhelm Behr, who had been assigned to Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr 231, fell in action on 19 July 1915. Herr Behr was an Offizierstellvertreter (Acting Officer). He also had been awarded the Iron Cross. The notice comes from the women of his life. It is trimmed in black. The envelope, which is also trimmed in black, was mailed.
