This is a small volume of letters written by PLM-winner Erwin Böhme to a young girl. Böhme was an early member of Jasta 2, which was first commanded by Hauptmann Oswald Boelcke. The future German ace-of-aces, Manfred von Richthofen, was also a member of this squadron. Böhme was the pilot with whom Boelcke collided in late October 1916. Boelcke then fell to his death. Böhme later commanded Jasta Boelcke (as Jasta 2 was renamed). He himself fell in November 1917. This German-language book was published in 1930, some thirteen years after Böhme’s death. It is very touching and worth working through. The binding is split, so care must be exercised when handling the book.
