This is a veteran’s badge in the shape of a shield. It commemorates a veterans’ gathering. The date of the gathering was 10.6.35 (this has an “8.” in front of it, perhaps again referring to the regiment’s number). The badge measures 1 ½” x 1.” At the bottom we see a shoulder strap with an “8” on it.

This is a consignment item. It is a medal that commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Kingdom of Saxony’s Infanterie-Regiment Nr 102. The regiment was officially known as Königl. Sächs. 3 Infanterie-Regiment Nr 102 König Ludwig III von Bayern, which was founded in 1709. It was garrisoned at Zittau and attached to the Saxon XII. Armeekorps. The medal was issued in 1909 to commemorate the regiment’s two-hundred-years of service. The oversized, silver-toned medal measures 1 5/8″ in diameter. The obverse sports the dates 1709 and 1909. We see a mitre-wearing infantry soldier from 1709 shaking hands with a 1909 pickelhaube-wearing serviceman.
The reverse displays information about the regiment, including that it was dedicated to Prinz-Regent Luitpold (1821-1912). He served as Bavaria’s much beloved ruler from 1886, when he replaced his nephew, König Ludwig II (Mad Ludwig) as Prinz-Regent, until his death in 1912. The decoration has no jump ring or ribbon.

This is a consignment medal. It is a Prinz Regent Luitpold Commemorative Medal. It is a bit unusual, celebrating his 80th birthday and his 25th year as Bavaria’s ruler. (He took over for Ludwig II when the latter was judged incompetent to rule Bavaria). The medal is circular and measures 1 1/4″ in diameter. It has a gold finish. The obverse features Luitpold in a profile view. The reverse has information about the two occasions being celebrated. The decoration was issued in 1911. The medal comes on a green and red ribbon that is tied in a bow, indicating that it was awarded to a woman.
I'm Kenneth (Ken) J. Greenfield, currently of New Port Richey, Florida, located on the West Coast of Florida in the Tampa Bay area. I started out as a collector of Imperial German Militaria, particularly items dealing with the Imperial German Air Service in the early 1960's. After more than forty years of avid collecting, I began to sell a few items to upgrade my collection and help finance my collecting "habit." I attended militaria shows, both to buy and sell. I wanted to spend more time at home and less traveling for the national companies that I had worked for; so, starting my own business seemed like an attractive alternative. I like nothing better than talking with others about militaria, and introducing newcomers to the joys of owning a "piece of history."
