AIRSHIP GRAF ZEPPELIN’S FIRST (1929) WORLD TOUR COMMEMORATIVE BADGE

SKU: 21-306

$250.00

The Graf Zeppelin was the first commercial German zeppelin. She began running regular routes in 1929.  Later that year she began an around-the-world flight that electrified the world, as only two years earlier Charles Lindbergh had completed the first solo flight across the Atlantic.  This commemorative pin was sold to an anxious German public eager to participate in the historic event.  The pin measures 2” in diameter.   The words “Graf Zeppelin” and “Weltflug 1929” are imprinted around the pin’s edges at the top and bottom, respectively.  A high-profile zeppelin is affixed to a green and blue enamel world map in its center.  The pin features its manufacturer’s hallmark on the reverse. These pins are becoming increasingly difficult-to-find.
