This is a consignment item. Hohenzollern was a small Imperial German state near Baden and Württemberg. [Actually, the state had little to do with the House of Hohenzollern whose family ruled Prussia and later Germany]. The decoration we offer is circular and measures 1 1/8″ in diameter. The decoration is bronze-toned. The obverse has a cross with an eagle. The reverse has reference to King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia and the dates 1848 and 1849. During this time, a series of revolutions were in Germany. The medal is for the troops from Hohenzollern who fought with Prussia suppressing the revolt. The decoration has a small ribbon that is made of black and white silk.
The decoration and ribbon are in very fine condition.
