clearance page,
effective 14 August 2007!!

Kyri is one of the four Siberian cats that we have here at Der Rittmeister Militaria (along with a female Maine Coon cat and two male Ragdolls ).
She is also our youngest female. She shadows Bala all over the house, as do younger sisters everywhere. When she realized that Bala had her own page on this web site, her eyes grew even greener with envy. After we endured much pouting, we agreed that she could have her own page.
Thus, "Kyri's Kurio Korner" was born.
Here you will find smaller items befitting a smaller cat. While Kyri may be small, she is a dynamo of action. Sometimes she trots around here so quickly , we feel certain there must be THREE of her!
As you can see, Kyri can wear a tiara just as prettily as her bigger sister. So, please join Princess Kyri as she hunts down tasty, little bargains for you.

01-496 CUTOUT GOLD ARMY WOUND BADGE.

VETERAN’S BADGE - MECKLENBURG-SCHWERIN.
02-185 SEVEN-PLACE RIBBON BAR. This is an officer’s-level seven-place ribbon bar. Included in the ribbons are the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class for Non Combatants, Kriegshilfekreuz, Red Eagle Order, Crown Order, Officer’s Long Service Award, Kaiser Wilhelm I Centennial Medal, and a medal from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. This was most likely a ribbon bar for a doctor. Seldom do we see the Iron Cross 2nd Class with the Non Combatants ribbon. $375.00 Reduced to $320.00!!
This is a metal box measuring 3 1/4" x 5" x 1 1/4." At first glance one would think this box is made of a burled wood. In fact, it has been painted to give it just such an appearance. It is actually metal! Mounted on the lid is the propeller of an airplane. Some leaves are intertwined between the blades of the propeller and the center hub. This device is silver-toned. It looks most handsome affixed to the top of the box. Inside, the box is lined with cedar, which would have been ideal for protecting the freshness of tobacco products. Thus, this box probably was intended to hold cigarettes on the desk of an aviator. I cannot tell if this is wartime production or postwar. It is interesting and reasonably priced. $125.00. . . Reduced to $110.00!!
14-288 AVIATION-RELATED CIGARETTE BOX.
This a squarish cigarette case, which measures 3 1/4" x 3 ½". It has a pebbled black finish. It sports a small 1914 Iron Cross in the upper left corner. One of the two elastic keepers in the interior is present. The overall condition would rate very fine. $175.00.Reduced to $150.00!!
03-43 CIGARETTE CASE.
In Imperial Germany, most cigarettes came in tin boxes of varying sizes. The manufacturers produced these tins in ranges from 20 to 25 to 50 or 100 cigarettes. Many different types of cigarettes were advertised in a multitude of ways. Also, it was common to be given cigarette cards with one’s purchase. These could be for a variety of subjects, like orders and decorations, uniforms, etc. This box, which measures 3" x 2 3/4" holds twenty cigarettes. It is for the brand "The Duke of Edinbourgh Flaggengala," which was manufactured by the firm Garbaty in Berlin-Pankow. It is in very fine condition. $80.00 Reduced to $68.00!!
03-70 CIGARETTE TIN.
03-78
CIGARETTE BOX FEATURING VÖLKERSCHLACHTDENKMAL.
The Völkerschlachtdenkmal is (and has been) one of the most important war memorials in Germany. It is located in Leipzig, which is one of the most important cities in Saxony, along with Dresden (the capital city). Leipzig was deep in East German territory until the early 1990's, when East and West Germany were reunified. I have seen this memorial in Leipzig, and I can tell you that it is truly beautiful. It has a reflecting pool leading up to it, similar to the reflecting pool for Washington’s Monument in the US capital. The Völkerschlachtdenkmal was dedicated in 1913 to commemorate Germany’s participation 100 years previously in the Napoleonic Wars. This is a box of matches, measuring 3" x 4" x 1 ½." It has a likeness of the monument on the boxtop. The monument, along with the trees, shrubs, and reflecting pool can be seen. When opening the box, we can see two sections of pink tipped matches. The two compartments seem full. On the sides where one strikes matches, I see that perhaps two or three matches have been struck. Mint. $45.00 Reduced to $38.00!!
18-270 BOX OF MATCHES - VÖLKERSCHLACHTDENKMAL.
05-376 BAVARIAN TWENTY-FIVE YEAR LONG SERVICE AWARD FOR A FIREMAN. This is a wonderful decoration for 25 years of service as a Fireman in Bavaria. It comes in its original presentation red slip case. Inside is nestled a blue and white ribbon bar type arrangement which measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". Installed over the ribbon bar is a gilt colored bar which signifies 25 years of service time and features a fireman's helmet and ax. Very fine condition and difficult to find. $150.00 Reduced to $125.00!!
05-1037 KAISER WILHELM I CENTENNIAL MEDAL. This is a very fine example of the Kaiser Wilhelm I Centennial Medal. This medal was authorized by Kaiser Wilhelm II, the grandson of Kaiser Wilhelm I. It honored the 100th year celebration of the first Kaiser of the 2nd Reichs birth. The bronze-toned, circular medal has a profile view of the Kaiser wearing a generals pickelhaube. This medal was first issued in 1897. It was accompanied by an award document. This example is set up as a one-place medal bar and uses a replacement ribbon. $45.00 Reduced to $39.00!!
. .
05-1244 3rd CLASS LONG-SERVICE AWARD - NINE YEARS - SAXONY. This is the 3rd Class Long-Service Award for Nine Years of Service. It is in very fine condition, with a green and white ribbon. $105.00 Reduced to $92.00!!
05-933 KÖNIG KARL JUBILEE MEDAL WITH CLASP - WÜRTTEMBERG. This is a quarter-sized jubilee decoration for Köning Karl of Württemberg. The decoration is silver-toned. It has a fine, high relief of Köning Karl. He ruled the kingdom of Württemberg from 1865-1892. It sports a clasp on its red and black ribbon. There is a safety pin-like device on the reverse to secure this decoration to a garment. It is in very fine condition. $125.00 Reduced to $110.00!!
08-232 WAR SERVICE CROSS 1st CLASS - BRAUNSCHWEIG. This is the Iron Cross 1st Class equivalent from the Duchy of Braunschweig. It is similar in size to the EK 1 but has a bronze tone to it. This example is in very good condition. It has excellent detail to both the obverse and the reverse. $275.00 . .Reduced to $235.00!!
This Soldbuch and militärpaß belonged to the same soldier. His last name is Wossner. As we look through his militärpaß, we see that he was born in 1896 and that he was a native of Württemberg. We can tell that he passed through the 3rd Recruit Depot with Infantry Regiment Nr 125 in October 1915. He was immediately reassigned to Flieger-Ersatz-Abteilung Nr 10 near Stuttgart. Entries continue from his November reassignment through December 1916 with him attached to Flugpark 5 (a training depot and point of distribution of aviation personnel to front line squadrons.). We then see notations for Flieger-Abteilung (A) Nr 211 which is dated 21 November 1918 so he obviously survived the war. There are also unit stampings for FA 201 and 210 from the period of 1917-1918. In his Soldbuch we see entries for FA 202, 207, and210 along with his service in these units. A well traveled ground crewman by any means. It is unusual to be able to offer both the militärpaß and the Soldbuch together. $150.00 Reduced to $125.00!!
14-109 SOLDBUCH AND MILITARPAß TO AN AVIATION SOLDIER.
This is a fairly common militärpaß to a man by the name of Josef Baldauf, who was born in 1876. He first entered the Army in 1898 as a member of Infantry Regiment Nr 65. He served two years active duty and was placed in the reserves. He was called up in 1914 and served in a number of units during the war, including Flieger-Abteilung Nr 7. He survived the war and was mustered out in 1919. He had a fairly undistinguished career and won no decorations during the war. One page in the book is loose but there is a great deal to read on this older soldier who was called back to serve his country. $75.00 Reduced to $65.00!!
16-50 MILITÄRPAß.
10-636 DOUBLE MILITÄRPAß AND SOLDBUCH -
ARMIERUNGS-BATTALION Nr 79.
10-623 MILITÄRPAß AND PROTECTIVE COVER - INFANTRIE-REGIMENT Nr 97.
This is a militärpaß for a man who served in Kompagnie Nr 1 of 1. Oberrheinisches Infantrie-Regiment Nr 97. The regiment was founded
in 1881. It was garrisoned at Saarburg where it was assigned to the XXI.
Armeekorps. The man who once owned this militärpaß was Karl Emil
Wasslaufcr. He was born in 1875. He did his mandatory two-year-service in this
regiment from 1896-1898. He also served in the Landwehr from 1904-1909.
I do not see evidence of him having served in WW I. The militärpaß has
many entries, as well as regimental stampings, from Infantrie-Regiment Nr
97. The militärpaß is in excellent condition. This is because it
has been stored in a custom, protective cover, which sports the name of his
regiment. It is a great set.

This fiber-based patriotic cigar holder measures 5 5/8" x 5 5/8." A large 1914 Iron Cross is embossed in black on the obverse. It is trimmed in leather. A flap on the reverse allows entry to the interior where the cigars would have been stored. This item is MINT. $95.00. . . Reduced to $80.00!!
10-562 PATRIOTIC IRON CROSS CIGAR HOLDER.

FIELD STATIONERY PORTFOLIO.
12-508 TELEGRAM - SURRENDER OF FRENCH - SEDAN - 1870. This is a 1900 recreation of the surrender of the French at Sedan during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. The telegram was originally sent from Sedan by the 3. Armee. As this event was of major importance to patriotic Germans, it was re-created for the public about thirty years after the original event. It comes complete with a telegram and the envelope in which would have been delivered. $115.00 Reduced to $95.00!!
This is a fascinating, framed, color lithograph of King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia. Friedrich Wilhelm III was the King of Prussia during the time of the Napoleonic Wars. He was also the king who instituted the 1813 Iron Crosses 1st and 2nd Class. The lithograph was produced by a Berlin firm. The framed item measures 17 3/4" x 12 3/4." It is possible that this example and the one listed below were used as plates in a book, or perhaps they were produced individually. I estimate that both were produced, then framed around 1900 to 1910. The frames certainly are old, but not so old as to hail from Friedrich Wilhelm III’s time. $195.00 Reduced to $165.00!!
12-493 FRAMED COLOR LITHOGRAPH - KING FRIEDRICH WILHELM III - PRUSSIA.
This is a color lithograph of two men from Husaren-Regiment Nr 17 from the Duchy of Braunschweig. I am told by one of our eagle eyed readers that this lithograph comes from a book written by Heinrich Ambros Eckert and Dietrich Monten by the name of "Das Deutsche Bundesheer 1835-1843." There were a total of 421 color plates in this book and this is number 258. The lithograph shows one officer in an Interim Attila, and the other officer in an Überrock. They are mounted on horses. The lithograph measures 14 1/4" x 9 3/4." It can be displayed as is or framed. $75.00 Reduced to $64.00!!
12-516 COLOR LITHOGRAPH - TWO OFFICERS - HUSAREN-REGIMENT Nr 17.
This is a unique ink blotter that makes an interesting desk piece. The blotter is made of segments of wood from a propeller(I cannot say whether it is British, American, French, or German). The top of it has a hand-carved propeller that measures 5". The top unscrews to allow access to the bottom of the blotter. This way the blotting paper could be removed when it became too soiled. This would look great on your desk. $150.00 Reduced to $125.00!!
24-15 INK BLOTTER MADE FROM A PROPELLER.
This is an ultra high quality table medal that commemorates the East to West Trans Atlantic Passage. This flight was made by pilots von Hünefeld and Hermann Köhl, who was a WW I PLM winner. The flight took place on 13 April 1928. It was actually more difficult than Charles Lindbergh'ss West to East trip, which, even today, is assisted by favorable tail winds. The reverse of the table medal shows the plane that was used. It also announces that the takeoff point was Bremen. The table medal is manufacturer hallmarked and silver hallmarked for .900 silver on the edge. $250.00 .Reduced to $220.00!!
14-256 TABLE MEDAL FOR EAST WEST TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT 1928.
.
This is a small leather change purse which has a silver scene showing a plane flying over the country side as seen on the Prussian Pilot Badge. In very nice condition. $150.00 Reduced to $125.00!!
14-196 COIN PURSE WITH AVIATION SCENE.
While I cannot say with certainty when this was produced, this is a framed representation of a Prussian Army Pilot Badge. From the look of the framing, I would say that it is at least 20 years old and possibly even older. The pilot badge, while full size, does not appear to be full depth. I cannot say if it was made from a metal of some sort or if it is possibly a resin casting. It does have pleasant detail and is very attractive. The frame that encloses the pilot badge measures 5 1/4" x 5 1/4." It would be more accurately described as a shadow box arrangement. There are no mounting hooks on the reverse, but that would be easy enough to remedy. It also can stand on its own on a table, desk, or book case. $75.00. . Reduced to $60.00!!
14-260 FRAMED REPRODUCTION OF PRUSSIAN ARMY PILOT BADGE.
16-126 XKK PAINTING OF FREIHERR MANFRED VON RICHTHOFEN. This painting was done by an amateur artist who lives in Minnesota. It measures 24" x 18" and depicts the Baron in his famous Ulanka (tunic). Von Richthofen is superimposed against the sky. He is wearing his Pour le Mérite, 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class, Prussian Pilot Badge, and the ribbon for the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class looped through a buttonhole of his tunic. This painting is ready to display as it is on its canvas, or you may have it framed as suits your individual taste. Shipping for this item will be $20.00. $125.00. Reduced to $75.00!!
One of the things that I enjoy the most about patriotic jewelry is the wide variety and levels of quality in which they were produced. Today we are offering one of the most unusual patriotic pendants we have ever found. To begin with, the artist (and I do mean artist, as this was clearly produced by an artist and jeweler) started with a jagged piece of shrapnel measuring 1 ½" x ½." To this he attached a very secure brass loop, whereby the pendant could be attached to a neck chain. On the shrapnel’s front is a very small, black, enameled Iron Cross, trimmed in silver. Then, wrapped from front-to-back, is a marvelous, swirling, presentation of oak leaves and acorns. Just to show this piece’s attention-to-detail, the shrapnel’s jagged edges have been smoothed off. This way they would not harm the wearer or her clothing. Although at first glance this appears to be a very simple jewelry piece, once one examines it closely one realizes the thought and work that went into preparing this wonderful piece. $195.00 Reduced to $165.00!!
17-496 PATRIOTIC SHRAPNEL PENDANT,
I am not sure exactly for what this was presented. Based on the translation, it was an honor gift or prize from the City of Düsseldorf. It is quite large and measures 2 ½" x 2 ½". The arms are made of green enamel. The center has the coat-of-arms of Düsseldorf. It is manufacturer hallmarked on the reverse, AND .800 silver hallmarked. This could be used as a pendant or for display. $175.00. .Reduced to $150.00!!
17-310 HONOR GIFT OR PRIZE FOR THE CITY OF DÜSSELDORF.

17-516 AUSTRIAN SILVER COIN PENDANT - WITH LIKENESS KAISER
FRANZ JOSEF.
This is a most interesting pendant
that uses a fancy silver frame to house an Austrian silver coin. The framed
presentation measures 3/4" in diameter, while the coin itself measures 1 1/4"
in diameter. The obverse has a likeness of Kaiser Franz Josef. The reverse
bears the Austrian crown and the date 1914. It is very handsome, and
ready to place on a silver or gold chain.

17-410 PATRIOTIC TRENCH ART BRACELET.
Bracelets made from both German coins and the coins of her enemies were quite popular in the homeland, especially during the first two years of the war. This bracelet consists of eight (four on each side) Russian 10 Kopeck coins. The obverse of each coin displays Imperial Russia’s double-headed eagle. The reverse features the coin’s denomination along with the date. The coins’ dates range from 1862 to 1914. Most of the eight coins are dated from 1910 to 1914. In the bracelet’s center, serving as a central symbol, is an enameled Iron Cross. It is adorned with Germany’s colors and those of her allies, as well as the dates 1914-1916. This enamel is somewhat chipped. $125.00 Reduced to $105.00!!

of a bracelet and a patriotic locket. The bracelet is made of
a driving band from an artillery shell. It snaps open for
wearing on a wrist. It is dated 1914-1915.

no longer exists. The locket is gilt-toned with an enamel

may be installed inside. The locket measures 1" in
diameter.

17-423 IRON CROSS PATRIOTIC PINS. I was really taken by this dazzling pair of Iron Cross patriotic pins. I will describe them individually. You may purchase them together or separately, as you prefer. The first of the two pins is circular and measures 1 1/4" in diameter. The frame is filigreed and silver-toned, although not actually silver. The center of the pin is constructed of two pieces that have been attached. The lower portion is a handsome, dark-blue, rounded and vaulted porcelain bisque. Attached to that is a stunning white, vaulted Iron Cross trimmed in black. This pin is impeccably made and of the highest caliber. This second pin is identical to the first in every respect, except that the bisque centerpiece is hand painted in a sumptuous burgundy. The condition of this example is equal to the blue piece. Both are ravishingly ornate and splendid. You may purchase either of these lovely patriotic pins for $150.00 Reduced to $125.00!!a piece, or the pair for $275.00. . Reduced to $230.00!!
32-18 PATRIOTIC IRON

Iron Cross patriotic pin. It is very well made and of very
high quality. It has a delightful, teal-colored frame
decorated with a hammered (dimpled) effect. A finely-made
1916 Iron Cross is mounted on an inner structure of
intricate, spider-weblike lattice work. It is in splendid
condition.

alternating lines of black and silver enamel. In the pin’s center is the

is a high-quality, early-war, patriotic pin. As a rule, the earlier the pin,
the better the quality.

This patriotic pin has a gathered ribbon on which a Hohenzollern Eagle is mounted. Below the pin is a crossed pick and shovel. This would appear to have been for some sort of a trade organization. I find this particularly interesting in that every level of society and every trade wanted to show their support for the government and to brandish their patriotism. $110.00 . Reduced to $93.00!!
17-272 CIRCULAR PATRIOTIC PIN.
This is a small iron Cross that measures about ¾" x ¾". The obverse is made of enamel and is a duplicate of a 1914 Iron Cross. There is a small chip, but it is not detractive. $85.00 .Reduced to $72.00!!

We are offering today a dinner-sized plate, measuring 10 ½" in diameter. The monument is painted in full color, along with the surrounding trees, shrubs, and the reflecting pool that leads from the street. One tiny chip shows on the plate’s obverse. 18-260 METAL TANKARD. Here we have a metal tankard. It appears to be made of pewter. Its capacity is about a half a litre and it stands 6 1/4" tall. No design is readily evident on its sides. The initials "MK" are engraved on the top of the lid. Inside the tankard one can discover the manufacturer’s markings for its production firm. It dates from about 1900. It is a handsome tankard that is ready to be used on any occasion. $125.00 Reduced to $105.00!!
This is an interesting one-handled pitcher that appears to be made of pewter. It stands 7 1/2" tall and 5" wide. The pitcher sits on a X" in diameter base. The base has a dent. No other problem mars the pitcher. The central motif on the pitcher’s side is two knights greeting one another. It is exquisitely executed, and dates from the turn of the 20th Century. $150.00 Reduced to $125.00!!
Seals of this nature were very popular in Germany during the Imperial Period. One would melt some wax, drop it on the flap of an envelope, and then impress the seal on it. This would serve to secure the envelope’s contents, and to identify the sender. This example features a name in German script. It has a wooden handle. $45.00 Reduced to $38.00!!
34-05 PERSONALIZED SEAL.
34-02 METAL STAMP FOR MARKING SEALING WAX. This is a metal stamp which would have been used for sealing a wax seal on a letter. These were very popular during the Imperial German period. Even the most modest of houses might have had one of these present. This example has a straight, four-sided, brass exterior. At the base are three initials which are either AAA or AVA. 31-38 AWARD DOCUMENT - WAR SERVICE CROSS 2nd
CLASS - BRAUNSCHWEIG. This is an award document
for the War Service Cross 2nd Class from the Duchy of Braunschweig.
The award was made to a Rudolf Kahler on 1 March 1917. The document
measures 13" x 8 1/4." The War Service Cross 2nd Class was
Braunschweig’s equivalent to the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class from
Prussia. The document is infrequently seen, since the decoration was awarded
in relatively small numbers. It is a fine example.

This is an award document for the Order of the Red Eagle 4th Class (Rothen Adler Orden Vierter Klasse). This award was made to a Heinrich Johannes Halke. The award came in 1886, during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm I. The document is signed by an official of the Royal Prussian Orders Commission, more commonly known as the Ordenkanzler. The document measures 13" x 8 1/4," and is quite ornate. It has been folded in quarters. A two inch tear shows at the top of the document where one of the folds was made. $195.00. 31-07 AWARD DOCUMENT FOR THE RED EAGLE 4th CLASS.
This is a set of two promotion or "patents" to one man in the Prussian Army. The first shows the promotion of a man from vizefeldwebel to leutnant der reserve. It is always interesting to see a man who has come up through the ranks and this was not terribly common twelve years before the beginning of WW I. His name was Wilhelm Fehler. This document was prepared 16 December 1902. There is a second document prepared on 27 January 1912 promoting Fehler from leutnant der reserve to oberleutnant der reserve. Both of these documents are quite ornate. They both measure 14 ¼" x 8 ½ ." The document has four sides, and opens up like a book. Each of the documents has holes punched into its side. Obviously, they were a part of a military record Fehler kept on himself, which was quite common among officers. $195.00. .Reduced to $195.00!!

23-194 PAIR OF
HAUPTMANN SHOULDER BOARDS - INFANTRIE-REGIMENT - BAVARIA.
This is a pair of hauptmann’s shoulder boards from a Bavarian infantry
regiment. We can see Bavaria’s blue chevrons on the boards’ silver bullion.
Two pips on each board denote the hauptmann’s rank. The boards’ reverse shows
a red underlay. The shoulder boards are of the slip-on variety. Both are in
very good condition.

This is a pair of shoulder boards for a leutnant from the Garde-Fußartillerie-Regiment. This regiment was garrisoned at Spandau (a suburb of Berlin) and raised in 1865. In the German army had two types of artillery. They were Feld (Field) and Fuß (Foot). Fußartillerie was, with one exception, a late creation, with most of its regiments created after 1864. It was by far the smaller of the two types. Prior to WW I only eighteen Prussian Fußartillerie-Regiments existed. This pair of shoulder boards is of the sewn-in variety, which was more common with junior officers (what the U.S. Army considered "Company Grade Officers"). Each features black threads in the silver bullion, confirming that these are for a Prussian Regiment. Furthermore, the underlay is yellow. The latter, along with the lack of a regimental number, confirms that this is for the Garde-Fußartillerie-Regiment. A pair of crossed cannon shells on each board confirms that these are Fußartillerie-Regiment, instead of Feldartillerie-Regiment. They are in excellent condition. $175.00 Reduced to $155.00!!

PAIR OF LEUTNANT SHOULDER BOARDS - INFANTRIE-REGIMENT Nr 12 - SAXONY.
This is a pair of leutnant’s shoulder boards from Königl. Sächs
12. Infantrie-Regiment Nr 177. This was among the last of the Saxon
regiments raised prior to WW I, and still considered an "old-time" regiment.
The regiment was established in 1897. It was garrisoned in the capital city of
Dresden, where it was assigned to the XII. Armeekorps. They measure 5
1/4" x 1 1/4," and are narrow like a Grenadier’s shoulder boards. These
shoulder boards date prior to 1900. Thus they were used when the regiment was
first established. Each features the regimental designation "12." They
are of the slip-on variety. They display some minor moth nips in the red trim
on the obverse.

PAIR OF OFFICER’S CYPHERS - ULANEN-REGIMENT Nr 13 - PRUSSIA.
15-264 GUN CAPTAIN PATCH FOR ARTILLERY-REGIMENT.
15-298 MUSICIAN SWALLOWSNEST DEVICES. This is a pair of swallowsnest devices for a musician’s tunic. These devices were attached to each tunic shoulder, clearly identifying any man who served as the regiment’s bugler or drummer. If a regiment was allowed to have a regimental band, then all of the bandsmen were permitted to wear them. The devices feature gold-embroidered tape sewn in a pattern over red wool. Each sports a green backing. I acquired them with a large group of Jäger material, so I suspect they came from an enlisted man’s line-Jäger-Battalion tunic. They would make a fine addition to a collection of uniforms, shoulder straps, etc. $175.00 Reduced to $155.00!!
15-299 MUSICIAN SINGLE SWALLOWSNEST DEVICE. This is a single swallowsnest for a musician’s tunic. This is far more elaborate example than those for most bands. [While I do not know for certain, I imagine that this musician was assigned to a Garde-Jäger-Regiment or another elite regiment. It came with a large group of Jäger items, which forms the basis of my assumption]. It features silver-embroidered tape, with silver, coiled braid dangling from it. The latter are similar to the braid coiling from the shoulder boards of majors and above. Some wear shows around the edges of this single swallowsnest. I have also been advised that this type of swallowsnest would have been for the band leader of the regiment. This man normally would have been a Senior NCO. $75.00

This is a very interesting patriotic item from the WW I period. It is an oversized Iron Cross paperweight measuring 4" x 4" x 1 /4." It is gilt-toned, and shows the three Imperial Periods that used the Iron Cross (1813, 1870, and 1914). It also features Friedrich Wilhelm III’s crowned cypher. He was the originator of the Iron Cross. Oak leaves and Kaiser Wilhelm II’s cypher are also included. This item was cast when produced. If you look at the reverse, you can see that it is hollow. 24-36 GA KRIEGSFLAGGE LETTER OPENER.
24-56 TRENCH ART DESK PIECE. Desk pieces were very popular during the Imperial German period. This desk piece is of the "trench art" variety. These were very popular. They were made from items that one might have found on a battle field. The base of this desk piece measures 5 3/4" x 4 3/8" and is made of brass. Mounted on an inner base, which is pebbled, is an assortment of used and unused rifle projectiles. Some are twisted. It makes for an fascinating display. $125.00. . .Reduced to $105.00!!

porcelain figure of a Hussar. He stands 7 3/4" tall. The
man is wearing a 19th
Century dress uniform, complete with sword, busby, atilla,

The only small flaw in this delightful item is that
two-thirds of his sword is missing below the hilt. Otherwise,
this is a lovely piece in excellent condition. It is a bargain
at this price.
